An Ecotec 2.4L dual overhead cam 4-cylinder engine is standard on LS, LT and LTZ models. 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission standard on LS and 1LT; 2LT and LTZ models include a 6-speed automatic transmission. For enhanced performance a 3.6L DOHC V6 is available on 2LT and LTZ models.

Going Green: The Malibu is also available with a Hybrid Ecotec 2.4L DOHC engine and 4-speed electronically controlled Hybrid automatic transmission.
